Dedicated to Growers, Artisans & Musicians
The Vashon Island Growers Association (VIGA) began in the 1980s with a desire to create on-island jobs in farming. What started as a small Farmer’s Market near the Post Office has grown into a multi-faceted organization that supports the full spectrum of island agriculture.
VIGA is also proud to feature local artisans and musicians at the Market.
Accepted Currencies
The Farmers Market provides shoppers with a number of alternative currencies to ensure that island grown and produced food is available to all islanders, regardless of income. These include VIGA Farm Bucks, EBT tokens and SNAP Market Match Bucks.
🥕 VIGA Farm Bucks can be used at the Vashon Farmers Market and at VIGA member farm stands.
🍓 EBT tokens and SNAP Market Match Bucks may only be used at the Farmers Market. EBT and SNAP may only be used for eligible foods as defined by USDA:
Fresh fruit and vegetables, plant starts and seeds that grow food (as opposed to flowers or other ornamentals), honey, mushrooms, eggs, dairy, seafood & meat. Prepared, ready-to-eat foods (cookies, hot tamales, sandwiches, etc.) are not eligible. Food packaged for home consumption is considered an eligible food - a package of 5 frozen tamales is an example, as is a loaf of bread.
