PRODUCTS: Farm-fresh produce and eggs
AVAILABILITY: Farmstand, Vashon Farmers Market
Island Meadow is a historic farm in the center of Vashon Island. Planted during the early 1900’s as a fruit and nut orchard, it was transformed into a diversified, direct-market vegetable farm with a self-service farmstand around 1990. These days, Island Meadow is run by two young farmers, Caitlin Carnahan and Greg Reed, who are excited to grow top quality vegetables, fruit, flowers, poultry and eggs on this scenic small farm in the heart of Puget Sound.
Along with all manner of fresh, seasonal vegetables, you are likely to find mixed flower bouquets, fancy salad mix, heirloom dry beans and traditional, fermented sauerkraut – handmade from Island Meadow cabbage – in the Island Meadow farmstand, which is open from early spring through late fall. Bring exact change or a checkbook, as the farmstand is unstaffed and we therefore cannot offer change.
Island Meadow Farm can be found at Vashon’s Saturday Farmers Market, as well, and our salad is on the menu at Café Luna, in town.
