Free Range Choir -- Something to Cluck, uh, make that , Sing About!

The Free Range Choir

(Sat, Nov 16, 11am-11:30am)
The Free Range Folk Choir is Vashon’s own eclectic and joyful folk music ensemble. Under the direction of Shane Jewell, this 80 member choir goes to the roots of folk tradition — learning through call and response, adjusting to the spontaneity of the moment and expressing song through both voice and movement. Music performed has ranged from South African freedom songs, Canadian sea shanties and Bulgarian love songs, to old school Gospel music, medieval French rounds and even songs about Vashon Island itself. This choir is a true celebration of the ways that music from around the world can lift the spirit and cultivate community!

Gregg Curry

Greg Curry’s songs dig deep into the roots of American music to create his original
sound. He has traveled America, absorbing influences from rock, soul, and blues to country, bluegrass, and gospel. Drawing from hundreds of original songs and numerous recordings, he seamlessly knits those American traditions into his unique musical tapestry
of lyrical, catchy tunes. Those songs, plus over 20 years of performing, make him a compelling presence on stage.

Walter and Donny

The band Walter and Donny are at the forefront of the cosmic Americana revival, picking up where the Flying Burrito Brothers left their flying rice and beans. Band members Rex McFarlin and Jon Stewart play a mix of Americana pop songs blending alt-country feel and elements of space-rock.
