The Department of Ecology is offering a free soil sampling workshop for farmlands. The purpose is to show people how to sample for Tacoma Smelter Plume contamination as easily and cheaply as possible. At the workshop Dept. of Ecology will offer a hands-on sampling demo, information about health risks from contamination and how to answer questions from people buying produce, and one-on-one consultations to help people plan their own sampling.
They have scheduled the workshop for August 7, 2012 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. on Vashon Island.
